On President's Day Colby's twin brother's, another brother's son and our family went on a wonderful hike to Switer Falls in the Angeles National Forest. We had so much fun on the trip. We left in the morning and arrived in time to have a picnic lunch before we started out on our jurney. The boys (not just the little ones) had a great time exploring the mountains. We had a few tree branch sword fights, threw a million rocks in the stream, brought a few home in our pockets, saw one squirrel and a few fish, and wadded in the stream. It was a perfect day for a hike and it was so much fun to be together as a family. Trent Black shirt , Travis Red sweat shirt, Colby with Karley on his back (notice the token girl in the picture) Caden, Jacob and nephew Tyler on our hike to Switer Falls
What an excited group of people.
At the falls
Karley loved the hike. (maybe because she was on dad back most of the time.) She really loves to be outside.
See we don't need video games we can make our own fun!!
Oh, yes we stopped many times to throw rocks in the water. What is it about boys and rock? To them all rocks must be thrown in the water. If you look closely you can see the indention in the rock on the other side of the stream. The boys challenged each other to see who could get their rock in the whole first.
Jake taking a nap after a 4 mile hike.
I thought I would add this picture from last week (ok two weekends ago) I'm not so good at keeping this current.

Young Authors Tea

This year Caden was one of three second grade students chosen to read his creative writing stories at an "Authors Tea" tonight. He was very excited since his brother Jacob had this same opportunity last year when Jacob was in second grade. Jacob was a little upset that mom was going to the tea this year. Last year the Tea was on March 8th (the day his younger sister was born- Lets just say mom was a little busy) Caden however was very excited to have mom there to listen to his story about his two dinosaur friends Brian and Daniel ( his real best friend's names.) It was a cute story about how he keeps the dinosaurs at his house and plays with them. They eat sushi and worms and go to school with him. We are so proud of our GREAT YOUNG AUTHOR!
We got trouble on our hands!
Last Monday Caden was in charge of the refreshment for Family Home Evening. He wanted to make sugar cookies and decorate them with Valentine sprinkes. After making the cookies we ended up with extra frosting. For the next two days Caden would sneek in to the fridge and get a finger full. Well on one such occasion he almost got caught when I came walking into the room. He quickly put the frosting on a shelf (without the lid on it) grabed a orange and closed the door as he walked away. Little did he know that the door had not shut all the way. Karley had been watching him and wanted her share of the frosting. I start making dinner while she goes over to the fridge. I swear it was only three or four second before I discovered what she was up too and look at the the mess she had made in that time. If she can already figure out how to get in to the chocolate, we are are going to be in big trouble.

Here is Caden reading a portion of his story at the Tea.

Mat and Karley Caden Mat and Drew
Jacob Drew Karely and Mat
All the kids
We have been watching Mat and Drew(my borther Paul's boys) off and on for the last few weeks. My kids have loved having their cousins over to play so much. Karley has really noticed Mat. She follows him around the house and tries to do what he is doing. He has taught her a lot in the last week. She is able to pull herself up to a standing position in the middle of the room without assistance. She can balance for severl seconds before she falls. So it was no surprise when she took her first steps today (see video) It is a good thing she is not very good at it. It's only a matter of time now before she is on the run. Sorry the video is side ways. No matter how many times I rotated the video it would always come up sideways.

Happy New Year

AREN'T WE SPOILED Christmas was crazy fun. Christmas Eve was spend at Wendy's parents. The kids had a great time opening gifts and playing with all the toys grandma, grandpa, and uncle Nathan got them. Jacob Caden and Andrew on the floor, and if you look very closly in the back you can tell DeAnna is holding both Karley and Siena. What a way to break in the new sister-n-law.
Grandma Fox and the girls in there "preteen outfits" Karley in the black leather skirt, Siena in the leapord skirt. We didn't even plan to coordinate the outfits.
Jacob Caden and Karley with some of their weaver cousins, grandparents and uncle Bond. We spent Christmas day and many of the days that followed with the Weaver family. We had a great time at a museum in Long Beach. Yes they are sitting on a real missle. The kids loved the museum. All the way home my nephew Tyer asked "Can we go to another museum tomarrow? "
Weaver cousins playing football at the park. This has become a regular activity when all the cousins get together. When all the kids are there, there's enough kids these day to play a real game especially if the dads and uncles get involved.

Colby

<- Before
After -->
Colby's "nose job" went well. He way very tires having worked the night before and getting off at 6am the morning of surgery. So he slept thru most of the prep time stuff. His nurse was teasing about how he must not be to worried about this surgery if he just keeps falling back to sleep whenever she left the room. After he came out of surgery he was VERY tires and quite out of it. So he slept most of his stay in the hospital. He did however give his nurse a scare when he stopped breathing long enough to set off his alarms. He of course released his snore and started breathing again, like he always does. He is doing well, but the pain meds make him feel a little dizzy. Other then that he really doesn't complain of much pain. He was feeling good enough today too go to his company Christmas Party. He is enjoying the rest and freetime.
These were at daddy'work party today.

Our Carzy life

Karley had a doctors apointment today for her nine month check up. Man it is hard to believe it has been nine months! She is going to be a tall girl. she measures in the 90% for her heigth and only 30% for her weight. Karley has her first two teeth. She got those just in time to eat the turkey for Thanksgiving. She is quite moble she crawls, pulls her self up to things and can stand alone for a second or two before she falls over.We waves to just about everything. She loves music and playing with her brothers and their toys. Her latest craze is to do "fishy lips." She is so much fun!
Caden has been going thru a growth spirt lately. He is almost as tall as his brother. This makes for easy clothing sharing. He likes school and loves soccer. He is such a natural athlete. He is the fun loving teaser of our family. He is really enjoying second grade. Caden loves when I help in his classroom. I was telling his teacher it is going to be hard for me to get over it when he finally decides that having mom come to school and always being around isn't cool. For now I soak up the fact that he wants his mom around all the time.
Jake has his 9th Birthday tommarrow. Nine more and we'll be getting him ready for a mission. Where does the time go? Jacob is such a great big brother to his two younger siblings. He is very patient and is getting to be a good babysitter. He loves his video games, soccer and cubscouts. He enjoys school especially recess when he plays with his friends. About a month ago Jake gave his dad a good practice in life saving skills. He was at grandma Weaver's house eating dinner with several of his cousins. someone made a joke and Jake went to laugh and swallow all at the same time and yes, he choked on his meat. Colby noticed and got the food out of his throat.
BYU Football Game Colby has been working hard this year going to school and working full time. He is planning to change occupations in January. After ten years of law enforcement he is going to go into the oil industry. I know a hudge change isn't it.We are all looking forward to dad only having one job again. So far he has enjoyed the intership he has had at a ConocoPhilips oil refinary. Last week Colby went to the doctors for and ongoing breathing problem he has had since he was a child. Long story short he will be having surgery next week-the 19th. Pray that all goes well.
I spend my time driving the boys to practices, doing second and third grade homework and projects, feeding a baby, maintaining the house, working in the classrooms, being a cub scout den leader, making music aides for primary singing time you know the usual. I am not currenlt working but hopfuly now that Colby is done with school I will be able to work a little just so I don;t forget how to do ultrasounds. I have enjoyed the ultrasound machine that has been at my house for the last nine month. I have scanned two sister in laws and a friend to see the sex of their babies.
Merry Christmas! We hope you have a wonderful Holiday season. We love you all. The Weaver Family
